This kit contains everything you need to clean your sneakers, including a brush, cleaning solution, and protective gloves. There are many ways to use shoe cleaner, but the most common and effective method is to apply the cleaner to a clean, dry cloth and then rub it onto the shoe’s surface. Evenly apply the leather conditioner to the shoe surface and let it sit idle for minutes. Gently buff the solution with a soft cotton cloth till the leather shines.
Use about 1 teaspoon (4.9 ml) of soap so the water is sudsy but still clear. Stir the cleaning solution so it’s evenly mixed.
Bleach fumes can irritate the mouth, eyes, lungs and skin, while also staining fabric and clothing. If your shoes are muddy or dirty and wet, don’t do anything until they’re dry.

Allow them to dry at least 30 minutes, if not longer, before wearing. When in doubt you can always take your shoes to a professional shoe repair service or a dry cleaner. They may not do the cleaning on-site, but they’ll know who to send your shoes to for a professional cleaning.
Wash Laces
But, if possible, choose a lower spin cycle speed to prevent your washer from becoming off-balance. Wipe your shoes with a damp cloth to get them wet. Wet the end of a microfiber cloth or towel and gently wipe it across your shoes. Get your shoes slightly damp but not soaking wet so the toothpaste can foam up. The easiest way to clean white shoes is with dish soap and water. Fabric shoes can be cleaned with but not soaked in heavily-diluted bleach.
Instead, dab the shoe with a cloth until you have removed as much moisture as possible. Wash satin shoes by hand, not in a washing machine. If your shoes are made of a delicate material like satin or silk, you should not clean them in a washing machine. The machine could potentially damage the shoes.
Mix the baking soda and detergent together in a one-to-one ratio. It’ll create a paste which you can apply like a polish. Apply it using a clean cloth, allow it to dry, and then wipe it away. Use the toothbrush to clear away any dirt or loose debris. Then, apply the polish to the shoe using a clean cloth. Use small, circular motions to work the polish into the leather. Make sure to rinse the shoes thoroughly with a clean, damp cloth.
Wash them in cold water with liquid laundry detergent. Use a delicate cycle, a no-spin cycle if you have one, or a medium setting with a slow spin cycle. If your insoles are glued down, you’re better off using the hand-washing method. Not sure what fabric your shoes are made from? Depending on the brand, you might be able to contact the manufacturer to see exactly what they’re made of. In some cases, the manufacturer might even sell a cleaning product specifically for those shoes.
Tips for Keeping Suede Shoes in Good Condition
Periodically rinse the cloth with warm water as you clean to avoid spreading dirt or stains across the shoes. For stubborn spots like grass stains or ground-in dirt, use the toothbrush and soapy water or a bleach pen to gently scrub the mesh fabric. Mix the baking soda and white vinegar together in a small bowl to form a paste. Dip the toothbrush into the mixture and apply the paste all over the shoes, scrubbing softly to remove dirt and stains. When it’s completely dry, brush off the larger bits and wipe off the remainder using a soft cloth or paper towel. For stubborn stains that won’t budge , use a bleach pen on the spots and wait about five minutes before washing the solution off with hot water and liquid detergent. Get rid of salt stains with water, fabric softener, and dish detergent.
If in doubt, avoid getting moisture on any surface that is already clean. Add one cup ofbaking sodato the washer drum or one-half cup to the hand-washing solution to help combat sneaker odor. Remove the laces and place them in the detergent solution to soak while you wash the shoes. Allow the detergent to work for at least 15 minutes to break apart the soil before adding the shoes to the washer. If the shoes have laces, remove them and wash them separately to get them clean. This applies to any shoes embellished with trim, beading, or rope soles. Knit shoes, like Nike’s Flyknit or Adidas’s Primeknit, are incredibly comfortable and have a huge amount of stretch.
